The Bridge Rising (80 mins) is a documentary feature film about the campaign against the tolls on the Skye Bridge in Scotland – one of the longest uprisings in modern Scottish history.
Packed with humour, twists and bittersweet surprises, this feature length documentary tells the inside story of the battle against the Skye Bridge tolls, for the first time, in the words of those who were there. From protesters to police to politicians, from the toll-collector to the Bridge engineer, the film takes you behind closed doors to meet the campaigners – and those who stood in their way. The Bridge Rising features archive news coverage from the time of the protests and an original soundtrack with key figures in the campaign against the Skye Bridge tolls, including singer Arthur Cormack and piper Angus MacDonald.
The Bridge Rising is a Scottish – Canadian co-production, with financial support from MG ALBA (which originally commissioned An Drochaid - The Bridge Rising as a one-hour broadcast documentary for BBC ALBA), Creative Scotland, Screen HI, CBDC-NOBL and the Nova Scotia Film Production Tax Credit.
