An Drochaid – The Skye Bridge Rising is the soundtrack from The Bridge Rising. It was composed by Scott Macmillan from Nova Scotia, whose prodigious talents stretch from classical to traditional to blues.
The Bridge Rising soundtrack showcases the talents of some of the superlative musicians from Skye who were involved in the campaign against the Skye Bridge tolls.
An Drochaid – The Skye Bridge Rising soundtrack features original tracks by legendary Skye piper Dr Angus MacDonald (Casg na Cisean – Stop the Tolls), leading anti-toll campaigner Robbie the Pict (Wailin for Sailin, A Spit in the Grave), Skye band Niteworks (Eilean a’Cheo remix), whose drummer Ruiri Graham appears in the film, as well as performances by Arthur Cormack – who spent a night in the cells for his part in the uprising; and Mary Ann Kennedy, who followed the story as a rookie BBC journalist in the 1990s. There’s even a guest appearance by cult legend, Jesse Rae (Over the Sea).
The soundtrack was recorded at Watercolour Studios in Ardgour by Mary Ann Kennedy and Nick Turner.
